1950s Royal Ballet Tutus - divine!
Aren't these gorgeous? They were on my neighbour's stand at the terrific Battersea Vintage Fashion Fair last Sunday. I so wanted to own one - but the price, though in my opinion very modest for such historical costumes, was outside my budget. Either one would make a wonderful display piece - far better for me than many modern art installations. Tugging at childish dreams of being a prima ballerina dancing on the hallowed stage at Covent Garden...
Battersea Vintage Fair
Sorry about the flash but it gives an idea of the wonderful setting for this lovely fair with its huge selection of vintage fashion, accessories and textiles - well worth a visit. I always have complimentary tickets and will alert you to future dates.
My birthday outfit
It was my birthday on the day before the vintage fair and I spent it at our elder daughter's London flat. She and her partner cooked up the most delicious dinner - shredded lamb shoulder and potatoes dauphinoise. Yum. Our son and his lovely Californian girlfriend also came - fresh from her American softball team win. It was a lively evening, though tinged with a bit of sadness as this daughter is also headed for Australia in November. She wants to live near her beloved sister who is now settled there with her lovely Irish husband and their darling daughter ( our only grandchild) and now all Australian citizens. We love our visits to that lucky country and also love that they have found new and exciting futures there.
10 bars all for me!!!!
(Dare I say - one of my favourite birthday presents!)
Delightful and appropriate gift from a dear friend
Comforts for Soldiers, Sailors and Airmen
And talking of Australia - I found these brilliant WWII knitting patterns in Sydney on our last visit. They are a selection of old knitting and sewing patterns for sale at my vintage fashion fairs.
Lovely 1940s Ladies Fashions
More fashion knitting patterns - also from Australia. They seem to be much more adventurous than old UK patterns I have seen - but maybe they just happened to survive the after war years.
This Sunday - come and see for free
I'll be at my usual stand in the main hall at the leading London vintage fashion fair Frock Me! at Chelsea Town Hall on Sunday - let me know asap if you'd like complimentary tickets. I can send them by email.

What a beautiful tutu! I, too, would hang that as a piece of art. Delicious! Good luck with 'Frock Me!' on Sunday. If I were closer I'd love to come along...
ReplyDeleteSometimes it would be nice to escape through the door to nowhere in particular!

ReplyDeleteThe tutus really are stunning. Shame they were a little out of your price range because you're right, they would make absolutely amazing display pieces.
