HATS OFF TO BRIDPORT

Interesting quote from a fellow standholder and hatmaker
at The Bridport Hat Festival 2011
Some of my hats and hatboxes
Two jolly boys from Bridport

A Vintage Family - fellow blogger Henhouse
(nice to meet you!)
Co-ordinated in Lime Green - the hat is by a vintage American designer
( sorry - I can't find where I wrote down his name!)
Horses racing around a pink stetson. I love the one who has thrown his rider.

Dapper Chap in his Solar Topee in front of my stand
Who said millinery was a dying trade?
Who's this channeling Chanel?
And that is a real 1950s Chanel beret reputed to have been made specially
for the client whose daughter sold it at auction. A keeper I think!

See this pic of my stand on page 2 of the Festival Photos
The festival actually ran for two days and was great fun.
But wait - who is this very famous face up there on the wall of the hall?
James Cagny stepped her!
A moving tribute to a great star and the men far from home who assembled with their UK cousins all around the local coastline (Bridport is an old Dorset fishing port) to prepare for the massive 1944 D-Day invasion of Normandy.

  2. Great hats! I like your green rain hat, and I's satisfied to hear you kept the Chanel one.

Still chortling at your dying millinery trade gag!

Hats off to you, you wit!
