First get your 1977 cookery book
Then your unfitted 1970s kitchen
Next, rope these kids in ( they've got a nicer kitchen)
Get cracking with the sausage rolls
And some open rolls, " Make them look appetising!"
Banana splits somewhere on the busy '70s patterned plate,
and tinned peaches - yummy!
Oooh - the drinks! That raw egg white should see off a few
of the more irritating young guests
Just a minute - where's the piece de resistance?
Cheese and Pineapple hedgehog!
Oo-er - look at those happy faces - go for it Carmel!
Footnote to history: did you notice that the title of this section of the book is "Party Pieces"? Published in 1977, a mere 10 years before Carole Middleton launched her famous company of the same name...mmmn interesting.

This made me laugh! What a fab pair of books. I'm going to take some ideas from them! Yes, I am.
ReplyDeleteLook at them all clambering over the open sausage rolls and knocking themselves out for some pineapple and cheese hedghogs! Who didn't enjoy the 70s?! Thank you, Ms E-M.
Shouldn't you be pounding the pavement?
That is so funny! I hope MMMC obliges.
ReplyDeleteDid I see a Hygena kitchen in one of the photos - our first kitchen! OMG I even remember the pinapple on sticks! and Postman's Knock. This is sad.
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend.

PS You know that busy 70s plate is the Villeroy and Boch 'Acapulco' series. It's very sought after now-days.
ReplyDeleteMy mother has a set in pristeen condition. It's too difficult for me to smuggle out of her house ... one day though, if I amass a Lizard army which seeks and carries only fine china!
Lol, I came here after seeing your comment on MMMC's post. That Acapulco I'm seeing it pop up everywhere at the moment!
