Le Frontignac cast iron "dutch oven"
My wonderful bright yellow Baumatic oven has shed its glass door. So while deciding on a replacement we can only use the electric grill or the gas hob.
How then to cook the Sunday roast? Easy - pot roast!
So Mr EM cooked a magnificent chicken pot roast with tarragon and celery, onion, garlic, carrots and leeks for approximately one hour and a quarter. Potatoes, green beans and broccoli cooked separately for a shorter time.
The chicken was absolutely delicious. Tender and moist. I preferred it to the usual oven roast which tends to be dry and even with butter and herbs under the skin - not as flavoursome.
